JFW a/w '09

Tokyo has just finished their week of runway shows, documenting the '09 a/w collections. Surprisingly, there was a nihilistic and very rebellious tone to most of the shows. The same avant garde approach to design is still present, and has become a dependable motif amongst Japanese designers.
Unfortunately for JFW, most large Japanese designers show their collections in Paris. This greatly reduces the publics' enthusiasm/awareness of Japanese Fashion Week. Which is too bad considering all of the young talent and creativity on the runways. Included are several looks from designers that we felt were most expressive of the mood, and approach to Japanese fashion.
